Marie Jessen

Richfield, Utah - Our kind and beloved wife, mother, grandmother and sister, Beatrice Marie Bowman Jessen, age 71, of Richfield, died November 7, 2007 in Provo, Utah of complications from a lingering illness. She was born February 11, 1936 in Heber City, Utah, a daughter of John James and Elise Leora Giles Bowman. She graduated from American Fork High School, Class of 1954. Marie married Darrell J. Jessen, October 14, 1964 in Richfield, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple June 19, 1965. Marie was an active member of the LDS Church, serving as Young Woman’s President, Sunday School Teacher, Counselor in the Relief Society and a Visiting Teacher. She enjoyed bowling, softball and helping at the local care center. Marie loved to paint, sew, read, play solitaire on the computer and go camping with her family. Marie was an avid Jazz fan and could tell you anything there was to tell about the Utah Jazz. Go JAZZ!!! She is survived by her husband, Darrell, of Richfield; children: Debra and Evan Jones of American Fork; Kathryn Evans, James Darrell and Michelle Jessen, all of Visalia, CA; Katri Ann and Tom Foley of South Hadley, MA; Lorin T. And Hanna Jessen of Newport, RI; Ryan T. and Cynthia Jessen of West Jordan; 19 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; brother and sisters: James Melvin “Mel” Bowman, LoAnn Sorenson and Loretta Parker, all of American Fork. She was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother: Ora Jackson, Rhea Anderson, Marva Mann and Neldon Bowman. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 14, 2007 at 12 Noon in the Richfield 7th LDS Ward Chapel, 159 North 400 West in Richfield. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Richfield, Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or at the ward chapel Wednesday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Richfield City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
