Marilyn B. Harward Woman Of Service Centerville/Loa, Utah - Marilyn Brian Harward, age 62, died March 7, 2003 at the home of her mother in Loa, Utah. She was born November 2, 1940 in Loa, a daughter of Daniel Roe and Della DeLeeuw Brian. She graduated from Wayne High School, Class of 1959; from the College of Southern Utah in Cedar City in 1961 and from Utah State University in Logan, with a BA in Elementary Education, in 1963. She married Carvel Royal Harward, December 26, 1964 in the Manti LDS Temple. Marilyn loved family, sacred things and her country. She treasured family events, involvement in church work and being a good citizen. She lived with her husband and children in three different states: Illinois, Louisiana and Utah. In the early years of her marriage, before the birth of her first child, she taught 4th grade. Marilyn was exceptionally gifted as a teacher of young people. She delighted in working with small children. Marilyn loved her assignment in the nursery. She also served many years in the Relief Society and particularly enjoyed visiting teaching. Marilyn is known by all who knew her well, as a woman of service. Where ever she was, she served others, comforting ill people, delivering peace to all and uplifting those who were discouraged – especially elderly folks. During the last five years of her life, she suffered much. Her suffering included the ravages of a degenerative neurological disease. She also had a broken heart. The greatest experience in her life, since the birth of her three children, was attending the marriage ceremony of her daughter at the San Diego Temple, January 25, 2003. She died with that marvelous experience impressed in her mind and heart. She is survived by her husband; children: Carvel Royal Harward and Brian R. Harward, all of Centerville; Mary Margaret and Brian Gonzales, San Diego, CA; mother, Della D. Brian, Loa; brother, Elbert and Carol Brian, Cedar City; sister: Sharlene Taylor, Murray; mother-in-law: Donna Harward, Loa; brothers and sisters-in-law: Carol and Dwight William, Teasdale; Ronald V. and Julie Harward, Newell E. and Gloria Harward, all of Loa; T. Kendall and Margo Harward, Nampa, ID; Lane B. and Betty Harward, West Bountiful. She was preceded in death by her father, Roe Brian, a brother, Mike L. Brian and two nephews: J.R. Taylor and Thomas Williams. Funeral services will be held Friday, March 14, 2003 at 1:00 P.M. in the Loa LDS Stake Center, 20 South 100 West, in Loa, Utah. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home, 260 North 400 West, in Richfield, Thursday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. and at the stake center in Loa, Friday morning from 11:00 to 12:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Loa Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah. Online guest book at www.springerturner.com
