Marilyn C. Cooke

September 17, 1931 — January 9, 2013

Salina, Utah - Our kind and beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Marilyn Crane Cooke, age 81, died in the early morning hours of Wednesday, January 9, 2013 at her home in Salina. She fought a brave and valiant battle with pancreatic cancer. Marilyn was born September 17, 1931 in Salina, a daughter of Leo Hobson and Mary Donna Stevens Crane. She graduated from North Sevier High School, Class of 1949. Marilyn married the love of her life, Roy Jackson Cooke, June 13, 1953 in Salina, Utah. He died March 14, 2010. Marilyn was a member of the First Baptist Church, where she served as Church Secretary. She was the past President of the American Legion Auxiliary, a Counselor for the American Legion Auxiliary Girls State and served as a Voting Judge for Salina City. Marilyn enjoyed gardening, trips to Mesquite and being with her family. She will be greatly missed. She is survived by her children: Douglas and Mary Jo Cooke of Erda; Bruce and Patricia Cooke of West Valley City; Paula Ivie and Dan Enniss of Sandy; Patricia and Nikki Cooke of Murray; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a brother, Clayton and Virginia Crane of Salina; brothers-in-law: Charles A Cooke of Salt Lake City and Paul J. Cooke of West DesMoines, Iowa; and her dear friend and neighbor, Donna Stanton. She is preceded in death by her parents; three sisters: Maurine Crane; Ellis Rae and Jack Jensen; Dorothy and Clarence Hicks. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 12, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. at the First Baptist Church, 75 West 300 North in Centerfield, where friends may call for viewing Friday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or Saturday morning from 11:30 to 12:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Salina Eastside Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
