Marilyn Kaye Christensen

Escalante, Utah - Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Marilyn Kaye Barney Christensen, age 68, of Escalante, died December 21, 2013 in Panguitch, Utah. She was born November 11, 1945 in Richfield, Utah, a daughter of Angus William and Millie Maybelle "Mae" Colby Barney. She married Joe Banta, December 20, 1961 in Richfield, Utah. They were later divorced. She married Howard Deloy Christensen, March 20, 1981 in Las Vegas, Nevada. They were later divorced. Marilyn loved to listen to old country music. She loved to be around her kids and grandkids. She enjoyed camping, fishing and hunting. She is survived by her two children: Teena and Alan Pittman of Escalante; Kerry Christensen of Belfield, North Dakota; grandchildren: Joshua Christopher Pittman, Derik Danielle Dunham, Dustin Wade Christensen, Karri-Mae Myamy Christensen, Dustin Curtis Cleveland, Cody William Christensen, Krystal Elvira Rivera and Jerika Danielle Johnson; great-grandchildren: Levi Austin Wilcock, William Lee Wade, Anthony Rivera and Trey Rivera; sisters and brother: Blake J. and Dianne Barney of Richfield; Yuvon and Bert Bulkley of Salt Lake City; Madeline Gleave of McGill, Nevada. She was preceded in death by her father, Angus William Barney; mother, Mae Nelson; and step-father, two brothers and two sisters: Verlynn Barney, Kerry Barney, Wynona Barney and Donetta B. Miller. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 27, 2013 at 12 Noon in the Escalante LDS Stake Center. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Richfield, Thursday afternoon from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. or at the Stake Center in Escalante, Friday morning from 10:00 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Escalante City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
