October 22, 1971 — August 17, 2005

South Jordan/Aurora, Utah - Mark Walter Freeman, age 33, passed away suddenly at his home in South Jordan, Utah on August 17, 2005. He was born in Beaver, Utah, a son of Kent V. and Marlis Zietlow Freeman, on October 22, 1971 and moved to Aurora, Utah as a child. He lived there until he graduated with honors from North Sevier High School in Salina, Utah, where he was the Sterling Scholar recipient in Social Sciences and obtained a four-year academic letter. Mark attended Weber State University where he studied Military Science and Emergency Care and Rescue, later certifying as an EMT. He then volunteered with the Aurora City Fire Department and community EMT duties. After several years as a member of the Utah Army National Guard, he received an honorable discharge in May of 1997. On December 5, 1992, Mark married Renee Muir, becoming an immediate father to her two girls, Ashlee and Amber. Together they had another daughter, Aubree, on March 29, 1995. Mark and Renee later divorced. In August 2002, Mark graduated from the Utah Law Enforcement Academy from Salt Lake Community College, receiving certifiable status by Utah Police Officer Standards and Training as Peace Officer (Cat.1). Mark lived in several cities including American Fork, Provo, Salt Lake City and South Jordan. He worked many jobs throughout his life, most recently as security at large hotels in downtown Salt Lake City and was a long time employee of Big O Tires, where he established outstanding quality and trusted service to all who knew him. Collecting NASCAR memorabilia, selling on eBay, and doing the new craze of geocaching, were exciting hobbies for his free time. He was a very loving and devoted father, often driving to Sevier County to be with Renee and his daughters on the weekends. Mark will be missed by all those he left behind, especially his family; his parents, Kent and Marlis of Aurora; brothers, Frank of Las Vegas, NV; Rycharn (Kelly) of Salt Lake City; Ryan (Brandy) of Ogden; sister, Angela Rotzler (David) of Kearns; his grandfather, Vern Freeman of Lindon.
