Centerfield, Utah - Marlow Alfred Westlund, age 85, died November 7, 2013 in Centerfield. He was born December 3, 1927 in Gunnison, Utah, a son of Carl Alfred and Elodie Christebell Sorensen Westlund. Marlow served his country during World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was sent to Germany and France in 1945 for clean-up efforts. Then he was recalled in 1953 for the Korean War, but was sent back to Germany. After returning home, he worked for WW Clyde Construction and for several different ranches in Nevada. He retired at the age of 62 and returned to his family home in Centerfield. Marlow loved to hunt deer. He was a member o f the Oliver Russell American Legion Post #105 for 30 years. He never married, nor had any children. He is survived by his brothers and sisters: George Nolen and JoAnn Westlund, Lloyd K. and Uleda Westlund, and LeRoy Westlund, all of Centerfield; Ardes and George Cannon of St. George; Zella and Dick Elston of Spokane, Washington; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Alfred and Elodie Christebell Sorensen Westlund, and two brothers, Roger Lear Westlund and Dean LaVern Westlund. Grave side services will be held Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at 12:00 Noon in the Centerfield City Cemetery. Friends may call for viewing at the Centerfield 1st LDS Ward Chapel, Tuesday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the Oliver Russell American Legion Post #105 and the Utah Honor Guard will be in the Centerfield City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
