Mayfield, Utah - Our beloved father, grandfather, brother and friend, Marvin Leroy Butcher, age 86, died December 5, 2011 at his home in Mayfield, surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 2, 1925 in Granger, Utah, a son of Charles Monroe and Levina Stevenson Butcher. He married Elizabeth Collage, November 17, 1948 in Salt Lake City, Utah. She died April 16, 1997. He served his country during World War II in the United States Navy. Marvin enjoyed camping, four-wheeling, hunting, fishing and wrangling mustangs. He is survived by his children: Dennis and Tish Butcher of Mayfield; Rick and Lisa Butcher of Levan; LouAnn Vasquez of Riverton; Danny and Wanda Butcher of Wells; Jimmy and Carmel Butcher of Sterling; Darren and Terri Butcher of Spring City; 23 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; 7 brothers and 2 sisters. Memorial services with military honors accorded by the Gunnison American Legion Post #204 will be held Thursday, December 8, 2011 at 12 Noon in the Mayfield LDS Ward Chapel, where friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the services. Burial will take place at a later date under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be made to the family to assist with funeral services.
