Fremont, Utah - Our beloved mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, Mary Dorene Horrocks, 74 passed away on October 30, 2021 in St. George, Utah. Dorene was born on February 12, 1947 to William Dean and Mary Azelia Atwood in Elmo, Utah. She married her love Garold K. Horrocks on December 26, 1966 in Elko, Nevada. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple April 21, 1979. Garold passed away March 10, 2014. Garold and Dorene loved to pack the camper, load the horses and take to the mountains. They bought a farm in Cleveland, Utah and had three children together. They later bought a farm in Fremont, Utah where they raised their three children and worked very hard to make a beautiful ranch. Dorene worked hard on the farm and later worked for Aspen Ranch for trouble youth for many years as a cook. She had a great love for everyone and always wanted to help in any way she could. She was never into sports but loved her movies and shows, like Heartland, Criminal Minds, Yellowstone, The Voice, Hallmark, and many more. Everyone knew to never mess with movies or shows! Dorene’s biggest love in life was her family. Always wanting to know how everyone was doing and catching up with life. Dorene was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer last year and we have known this time was bound to come. If you were granted honors of meeting Dorene she was one amazing woman that was quirky, kind, stubborn, hardworking, loving, and down the earth. She will be deeply missed by family and friends. Dorene is survived by her two children: Mary Nickole Horrocks, Joseph Garold (Crystal) Horrocks, stepson Dan (Heidi) Whetsel and many grand and great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband: Garold K. Horrocks; a daughter: Cozann E. Johnson; her parents: William Dean and Mary Azelia Atwood; brothers: Ronald Delroy Atwood, and Ferrel Atwood; sisters-in-law: Lynda Atwood, Tina Atwood, and Sally Craghead Atwood.
