Mary Jayne Martinez

Axtell, Utah – Mary Jayne Anderson Martinez, age 68, of Axtell, passed away January 19, 2023 at the home of her son in Talmage, Utah. She was born December 10, 1954 in Salt Lake City, Utah, a daughter of Eugene and Elaine Donaldson Anderson.

She grew up in Kearns and graduated from Kearns High School, Class of ’72.

She married Eugene Floyde Seal Jr. in Salt Lake City. To this union was born a son, Eugene. They were later divorced. She married Jose Atanacio Martinez, May 23, 1986, in St. George, Utah. She then gained three more children: Karla, Mark and Jeff. Jose preceded her in death December 25, 2020.

Mary is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

She was involved with the 4-H Horse Program for many years. She loved to embroider and send time with her grandkids. She loved living in Axtell.

Mary is survived by her children: Eugene F. and Audrey Seal of Talmage; Karla Leyland and Mark Martinez, both of Salt Lake City; 16 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jose Martinez; her mother, Elaine and Kennith Hyde; her father, Eugene Anderson; two brothers: Michael Anderson and Mark Anderson; and a son, Jeff Hunter.

Graveside services for Mary Jayne will be held on Saturday, February 11, 2023 at 12:00 Noon in the Axtell Cemetery.

Friends may call for viewing at the Axtell LDS Ward Chapel, Saturday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 prior to the services.

Burial will be in the Axtell Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
