Maurine J. Snedeger

September 23, 1917 — November 8, 2012

Sigurd, Utah - Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother, Maurine Jorgensen Snedeger, age 95, passed away November 8, 2012 at the home of her daughter in Midvale, Utah. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten by her numerous friends and family. She was born September 23, 1917, in Sigurd, Utah, the second of six children born to Herbert Leon and Barbara Dora Nielsen Jorgensen. She graduated from Richfield High School. Class of 1935 and married Grover Leone “Sned” Snedeger, September 11, 1935 in Manti, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple, March 30, 1957. Sned died August 25, 1994. Maurine was a dedicated wife, mother and homemaker who was known for her excellent gardening, cooking and sewing skills. She often made clothing for herself and her family using no pattern at all or one she crafted herself. She had a soft spot for animals, especially cats. She always made sure the small army of strays that gravitated to her yard were provided with food, water and a loving pat. She enjoyed yard work, singing, reading, camping, traveling and spending time with her family. Notable trips include numerous pinenut hunting 'adventures' with her husband, Sned, to remote areas of Nevada; a cruise to Alaska; as well as trips to Georgia, Hawaii and California. As an active member of the LDS church, she served in many capacities including: Relief Society President, chorister and choir director. She also was involved with the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, Camp Cedar Ridge, where she served as Captain. She is survived by her children: G. Mark and Anna Snedeger of Richfield, Michael D. and Alice Snedeger of West Valley City; Meredith Snedeger of Midvale; as well as 20 grandchildren, and many great and great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her siblings: Leo Klar Jorgensen, Bonnie Fillmore, Shar Jorgensen, Norma Nelson and Bernice Jorgensen; a daughter, Marlene (Craig) Anderson; son-in-law: Michael Leo Bastian; daughter-in-law: Vonda Barney Snedeger, a granddaughter, Melonie Michelle Bastian-Anderson and a grandson, Jeffrey Mark Snedeger. Funeral services will be Friday, November 16, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. in the Sigurd LDS Chapel, 30 South 100 West in Sigurd. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Richfield, Thursday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or Friday at the Ward Chapel in Sigurd, from 9:00 to 10:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Sigurd Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
