Max E. Robinson

January 10, 1919 — December 29, 2015

Richfield/Orem, Utah--Max Edward Robinson, husband, father, and grandfather extraordinaire, passed away December 29, 2015 in Provo, Utah. He was born January 10, 1919 in Caineville, Utah a son of Edward Ellis and Hattie May Mulford Robinson. He cherished growing up in Torrey, Utah and graduated from Wayne High School where he was student body president. He proudly served as an officer in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married his sweetheart Eve Crandall on November 21, 1942. They had three children, Sherrie, Douglas, and Margie. Max received a BS in forestry from Utah State and an MS in range management from Oregon State. His career included teaching at Arizona State, Utah State, and the Branch Agricultural College (BAC-now SUU), as well as doing research at the BAC Experimental Station. He fulfilled assignments overseas in Pakistan, Argentina, Iran, and Cameroon, Africa, and was a Range Management Specialist with the U.S. Forest Service and Bureau of Land Management. He mentored many younger colleagues throughout his career. Max loved life, and had a remarkable memory. He was a published author. His passions included reading, telling stories, history, keeping up on the news and politics, playing his harmonica, farming in Torrey, living in Richfield, but most of all loving his family. He was compassionate, funny, and entertaining. He was a member of the LDS Church. He is survived by his children, Sherrie Sellers, Douglas (Carol Ann) Robinson, Margie Robinson, seven grandchildren, and twenty great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his wife; his parents; an infant sister, Fae Elda Robinson; a brother Clay Robinson; and a sister, Terry Swindle. Funeral services will be Saturday, January 9, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. at the Springer Turner Funeral Home, 260 North 400 West in Richfield, Utah, where friends may call for viewing Friday evening from 6 to 7 P.M. or Saturday morning from 11:00 A.M. to 12:30 P.M. prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the VFW Sevier Post #5050 and the United States Navy Honor Guard will be in the Richfield City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina.
