Richfield, Utah - Max Gunder White, died trying not to. He wanted to live to 100, but he passed away just six days prior to his 99th birthday, in Richfield, surrounded by his family. He was a hard working man and passed the legacy of hard work on to his children. He lived a full and independent life. Max was born June 23, 1912 in Indianola, Utah a son of Robert Ira and Christena Blansett White. He married Loura Roien Curtis, February 16, 1933 in Aurora, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple July 2, 1936. Roien died May 2, 2002. They are the parents of 6 children: Don White; Lois Jean (Bob) Larsen; Billy (Kaye)White; JoAnn (Max) Lambertsen; Douglas (Peggy) White; Judy (Ken) Drew; and 29 grandchildren, 102 great grandchildren, 67 great-great-grandchildren. He is survived by two brothers, Duane White; Rayful (Gertie)White both of Salt Lake City. He was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years; his parents; 5 brothers and 2 sisters; his daughter JoAnn; 3 great grandsons; and two sons-in-law: Blake Ogden and Ken Drew. Max was on his own since he was 13, always finding work to help his mother provide for the family. He was part of a generation that survived the great depression, and he always had work of some kind to provide for his own family. Those were tough times, but they were a tough people. He was well known in the livestock business. He owned a rodeo at one time and provided stock for many rodeos in the west. He served as Sunday School Superintendent, a Sunday School teacher, and a life long dependable Home Teacher. He seldom missed a visit with his families. Funeral services will be held on his birthday Thursday, June 23, 2011 at 12:00 Noon in the Richfield 4th LDS Ward Chapel, 159 North 400 West, where friends may call for viewing Thursday morning from 10:00 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Richfield City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah. Happy Birthday, Dad!
