Max Taylor

Willow, Alaska - Vearl Max Taylor, age 62, passed away December 29, 2005 in Anchorage, Alaska from complications related to cancer treatments. Max was born May 19, 1943 in Salina, Utah, a son of Vearl D. and Nita Pierce Taylor. He married Betty D Ellett and raised their four children, Jeff, Bret, Rick and Keri. Max spent his youth in Loa, Utah. He and his family lived in Woods Cross, Utah from 1970 - 1981. In 1981, Max moved to Willow, Alaska. There he worked as a truck driver, heavy equipment operator, gas station manager and business manager. He was owner of Taylor and Sons Excavating in Willow, and co-owner of Bryce Canyon Scenic Tours, Bryce Canyon Resort and Great Western ATV in Bryce, Utah, Hogi Yogi of Bruce Canyon and Panguitch, Utah. All who kew Max are blessed to have gained from his wisdom and wit. Max loved to teach others and was a leader by word and example. Max tuaght us the meaning of respect, honesty, frugality, forgiveness, righteous leadership and the beauty of an honest days work. His quick wit and sense of humor brought a smile and laugh to all who met him. He loved all, but had a special place in his heart for those with less than he. He loved being surrounded by his family, who were with him as he passed from this life to the next. Max leaves a legacy of service, kindness, endurance and unconditional love. While Max’s physical presence is missed dearly, we celebrate his life and look forward to the time when we will be reunited. He precededs in death his wife Betty D Taylor of Willow, Alaska; his four children and their spouses: Vearl Jeff and Leslie Taylor of Hatch, Utah; Bret Max and Lesa Taylor of Panguitch; Rick Rulon and Wendy Taylor, Keri and Brian Anderson, all of Wasilla, all of Wasilla; 15 grandchildren with two more due in 2006, two sisters and one brother:Myrle and Sherral Allred of Bluffdale, Utah; Carl and Linda Taylor of Hurricane, Utah; Gayleen and Clayton Johnson of Cortez, Colorado. Our husband, father, grandfather and brother now joins those who passed on before him, including his parents, daughter-in-law, Shawn Ann Taylor and two granddaughters. Friends are invited to services in memory of Max. A viewing will be held January 2, 2006 from 6 to 8 P.M. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Willow, Alaska. Grave side services and burial will be held January 3, 2006 at 12 Noon in the Wasilla Aurora Cemetery in Wasilla, Alaska. Memorial services will be held Saturday, January 7, 2006 at 1:00 P.M. in the Tropic LDS Ward Chapel in Tropic, Utah, where friends may visit with the family from 11:00 to 12:30 prior to the services.
