Maydelle S. Barney

Elsinore, Utah - Our kind and loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt, Maydelle Francis Slais Barney, age 82, of Ely, Nevada and formerly of Elsinore, Utah, died October 1, 2007 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She was born May 22, 1925 in Whitman, North Dakota, a daughter of Frank Joseph and Minnie Otilda Emmerson Slais. She married Ardell W. Barney, May 3, 1944 in Merced, California. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple January 22, 1965. Ardell died June 7, 2001. Maydelle is survived by her children: Rennell A. and Martha Barney of Ely, Nevada; Kathy J. and Daniel Polk of Las Vegas, Nevda; Mitchell Bonbrake of Lava Hot Springs, Idado; 14 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a sister, Dorothy Alverez of Excondido, California; a sister-in-law: Betty Minty Barney Julander Nelson of Elsinore. She was preceded in death by her parentsl; her husband; two sisters and one brother: Romella Reeves, Laverna (Pat) Galligher and Duane Slais. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 6, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. in the Elsinore LDS Ward Chapel, where friends may call for viewing Saturday afternoon from 12 Noon to 1:30 p.m. prior to the services. Burial will be in the Monroe City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
