Maynard Jacobson

May 24, 1950 — March 16, 2011

Centerfield, Utah - Our beloved father, grandfather and brother, Maynard Oras Jacobson, age 60, died March 16, 2011 in Gunnison, Utah. He was born May 24, 1950 in Gunnison, a son of Oras Marinus and Vivian Crowther Jacobson. He graduated from Gunnison High School, Class of 1968 and attended Utah Technical College in Salt Lake City in Diesel Mechanics. He served his country during the Viet Nam Conflict, serving in the US Army from 1970 to 1972. Maynard married Sherry V. Fjeldsted in February of 1978 in Elko, Nevada. They were later divorced. He was a member of the LDS Church. Maynard was a member of the Gunnison Volunteer Fire Department for over 26 years and he served as Fire Chief for 12 years. He was the owner and operator of Alternator Electric in Gunnison. He loved to hunt, fish and go camping. He enjoyed snow mobiling and riding his four wheeler, but most of all, he loved hanging out with his grandson, Micha. Maynard is survived by his son, Brett and Heather Jacobson of Centerfield; his grandson, Micha Gatlin Jacobson of Centerfield; his two sisters: Annette and Charles Moore of Salina; Susan and Jerold Lloyd of Taylorsville and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins. Funeral services will be held Monday, March 21, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. in the Gunnison LDS Stake Center, 80 West Center, where friends may call for viewing Sunday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or Monday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to the services. Burial with Fire Department escorts and military honors accorded by the Oliver Russell American Legion Post #105 and the Utah Honor Guard will be in the Mayfield Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
