Mckay B. Lee

Oak City, Utah – McKay Baker Lee was taken from us too soon on the evening of Monday, August 23, 2021. He was born the oldest child of Thayne and Julie Nielson Lee, on May 20, 1982 in Delta, Ut. and grew up in Oak City, a community that he cherished. As a child, McKay was strong-willed and smart with an inquisitive nature. He was known for taking things apart and putting them back together just to find out how they worked. And if he wasn't pulling things apart, he was building them up. He spent countless hours assembling model cars and airplanes, building computers and researching. He was the family fix-it man, tech-support and mentor. He shared everything he had with others and used his talents and gifts to bless so many. He loved to be outdoors camping, mountain biking and hiking, and used these as an opportunity to be with those he loved. Family meant everything to McKay. He graduated from Delta High School in the year 2000 and served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the New Jersey, Morristown Mission where he aided in the relief of the 9/11 tragedy. Following his mission, McKay worked as an auto-mechanic and sound installation technician. He married the love of his life, Melissa Jane (Missy) Hatch in the St. George LDS Temple on March 10, 2006 and they had two sons, Garrett (11) and Parker (7) who reside in Oak City. McKay was, at the time, employed at IPSC in Delta. McKay was always looking for ways to get everyone together. He was an excellent cook and the self-designated chef for all family events. He took every opportunity he could to build relationships and show love. He was authentic and honest, with a quick wit and sense of humor and was a tender-hearted tease who was deeply loved. He will be forever cherished. McKay is survived by his wife Missy and children Garrett and Parker of Oak City; parents Thayne and Julie Lee of Oak City; parents in-law; Guy and Debrah Hatch of Florence, Az.; siblings Brennen Lee of Oak City; Jentry (Terrill) Melville of Monroe; Mitch (Nikota) Lee of Elk Ridge and Hayden Lee of Cedar City; siblings in-law; Heidi Spinks (Caulin) of Layton, CJ (Hazel) Hatch of Roy, Troy Hatch of Layton. Preceded in death by: grandparents; Gordon R. and Clarice Nielson of Oak City and Brant J. Lee of Monroe; Grandparents in-law; Delbert Boynton, Harley Hatch, and sister-in-law Angie Hess. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 3, 2021 at 12 Noon in the Oak City 1st LDS Ward Chapel, where friends may call for viewing Friday morning from 9:00 to 11:30 prior to the services.
