Melvelene S. Worthen

Centerfield, Utah - Our kind and beloved mother, grandmother, sister and aunt, Melvelene Sparks Worthen, age 78, of Centerfield, passed away January 16, 2015 in Centerfield. She was born November 5, 1936 in Salt Lake City, Utah, a daughter of Melvin Hyrum and LaVina Wardle Sparks. She married Neils Earlin Worthen Sr., March 16, 1950 in Granger, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple January 20, 1987. Earlin died May 31, 2009. Melvelene was a strong member of the LDS Church in the Axtell 1st Ward. She loved taking care of her husband and hunting and fishing right beside him. She loved caring for her children and grandchildren. She was a pro at cooking, baking and canning. She was a very caring, forgiving and loving person and would do anything for anyone. She will be greatly missed. Melvelene is survived by her children: Earlene Rasband of Salt Lake City; Michael Don (Deceased) and Becky Lynn Worthen of Fairview; Debra and Dean Idom of Salt Lake City; Tamara G. Turner of Burrville; Earlin Jr. and Shelaine Worthen of Centerfield; 24 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren with three on the way; 1 great-great-granddaughter; sisters: Donna Fausett and Marlene Waters, both of Salt Lake City. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Mike; grandsons: Little Mike Worthen and Chip Rasband; a great-granddaughter, Isabella Rasband; and her siblings: James Tate; Wanda and Frank Harvey; Ronald and Jenny Perkins; Delores Perkins; Elsie and Loyal Blackett; and Velma Farnsworth. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at 12 Noon in the Axtell 1st LDS Ward Chapel, 75 West Center in Axtell, where friends may call for viewing Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or Wednesday from 10:00 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Centerfield City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
