Merlin Kit Taylor

March 16, 1931 — September 30, 2009

Loa, Utah - Merlin Leland Taylor, age 78, passed away on the 30th of September, 2009 in Loa, Utah, due to complications from Alzheimers Disease. He was born March 16, 1931 in Loa, Utah, a son of Leland and Dora Bell Taylor Hunt. He was five years old when his mother passed away, at which time he was placed in an orphanage. He later came to live with his Uncle Pratt and Aunt Hazel Taylor in Loa. He graduated from Wayne High School, Class of 1949. After graduation he went to work in Salt Lake City. At that time he legally changed his name to Taylor, his mother’s maiden name. Merlin married Sylvia Heywood, September 23, 1950 in Loa. They were blessed with six children and were later divorced. He worked at IML in Salt Lake City, until they closed the business. At that time, he purchased two trucks from IML and leased them to Darryl Taylor Trucking. Merlin married Nadine Rasmussen Brown, June 27, 1997 in Loa. Dad was happiest when spending time with family and friends in Kamas. He loved to hunt, fish, ride horses and just being in the mountains, camping. He loved family reunions, time spent with family and driving his truck and the association with the people whom he worked. He is survived by his wife, Nadine; children: Merlin Steven and Joan Taylor, Kristine Taylor, Jayne Belle and Beirne Chisolm, all of Salt Lake City; Jessica and Brent Crystal, Julie and Jack Richmond, all of Kamas; step-children: Joe and Lynda Brown, DeAnn and Chris Schaugaard, Leon Brown, all of Loa; 22 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sister: Romola Jones of Bicknell; sister-in-law: Grace Blackburn of Orem. He was preceded in death by his parents, Pratt and Hazel Taylor; two sons: Kenneth Taylor and Donald L. Taylor; brother, Don Blackburn and two sisters: Bonnie Newby and Ranae H. Albrecht. The family wishes to thank the loving and caring people at Serenity Springs in Loa, especially RayLynne, Jessica, Kathy, Terri and Sarah, his Hospice care givers. Funeral services will be held Saturday, October 3, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. in the Loa LDS Stake Center, where friends may call for viewing Saturday morning from 11:00 to 12:30 prior to the services. Grave side services and burial will be Monday, October 5, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. in the Marion Cemetery, Marion, Utah under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
