Monroe, Utah- Michael Craig Paterson passed away July 30, 2023 surrounded by his family after a long illness. Michael was born November 1, 1961 in Hollywood, California to Craig and Rita Kay Paterson.
Michael grew up in Canoga Park, California. At age six, Michael developed Alopecia which resulted in losing all of his hair. This condition made grammar school and high school difficult. During this time the Paterson's moved to an area with many children who were understanding and kind to Michael. He made many lifelong friends. He attended Chatsworth High School. He lived in Henderson, Nevada for several years before moving to Monroe, Utah and living in the area for the past 15 years.
As an adult, Michael worked for many years in a cabinet shop in southern California. In addition, he was a skilled welder and made wrought iron gates and fences. He and a friend worked together installing automatic garage doors. He was a hard worker and diligent in every job.
Michael was very talented in many different areas of his life. He enjoyed music and skydiving. He accomplished over one thousand skydiving jumps in southern California! He often bolted a camera on his helmet and took photos and videos of other skydivers. Michael will be missed by family members and many friends.
Michael is survived by his parents: Craig and Rita Paterson; sister: Traci (Andrew) Petro; brother: Brian Ashheim
He is preceded in death by grandparents: Joseph and Julia Paterson; Frank and Norma Biagi.
A memorial service with military honors provided by the Utah Honor Guard and the Sevier Valley American Legion Post #37 will be held Thursday, August 10, 2023 at 10:00 A.M. at the Monroe City Cemetery.
Services are under the care of Springer Turner Funeral Homes of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
