Mike Langston

October 10, 1958 — April 14, 2020

Richfield, Utah – Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, son and brother, Michael Verl Langston, age 61, passed away April 14, 2020 at his home in Richfield, after a valiant, but short battle with brain cancer. He was born October 10, 1958 in Richfield, a son of Verl and Christine-Jeanne Elisa Mennechet Langston. He graduated from Richfield High School, Class of 1976. He served a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to the Belgium French Speaking Mission from 1977 to 1979. He graduated from Utah State University in Logan with a Bachelors Degree in Accounting in 1983. Mike married the love of his life, Patricia Ann Peterson August 28, 1981 in Richfield, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the St. George LDS Temple January 7, 1984. To this union were born three boys. Mike was a man of many talents. He was the Team Captain on his college bowling team. He won the Utah State Amateur Golf Tournament in 1980, the day he met his future wife, Pat. He was in the Bowling Hall of Fame 2014 – 2015; and in Who’s Who 2008-2009. Mike loved golfing and bowling, fishing, camping and 4 wheeling, but his true love was traveling and caring for his cattle at the VL RANCH on the Arizona Strip. Mike worked for Richfield City Corporation as the Financial Manager for the past 34 years. He was a great money manager, and always made sure there were plenty of funds in the budget to accomplish what the city needed at the time. Everyone at the city offices got along with Mike and enjoyed working with him. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Langston of Richfield; children: Jeremy and Holly Langston, Scott and Noel Langston, all of Richfield; Joshua and Brooke Langston of Blythe, California; 6 grandchildren; his mother, Christine Langston of Richfield; siblings: Eric and Sherolyn Langston, Ann and Ron Oldroyd, all of Richfield; Karen and Brad Sampson of Washington. He is preceded in death by his father, Verl Langston. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors, nurses and hospice workers that helped take care of Mike for the past couple of months. Also, it meant a lot to Mike to be able to visit Arlington Cemetery and Washington DC which was on the top of his bucket list. Mike and the family would like to issue a special thanks to those in the community that donated to a fund so that he could achieve this dream. Graveside services will be held in the Richfield City Cemetery on Wednesday, April 22, 2020 under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
