Mit Burgess

April 26, 1976 — October 17, 2017

Salina, Utah - Franklin Militon "Mit" Burgess, Jr. age 41, died October 17, 2017 in Sturgis, South Dakota. He was born April 26, 1976 in St. George, Utah, a son of Franklin Milton Burgess Sr. and Patricia Ethel Leatherman Burgess. He married Charity Dawn Fowler, August 23, 1996 in Duchesne, Utah. They were later divorced. Mit was a fun-loving, adventurous soul. He enjoyed anything to do with the outdoors-from camping and fishing to working in his garden. He liked going on horse rides, road trips, watching a good movie and spending time with his family and friends. He had a knack for fixing things and always had a project or two in the works. Mit had a contagious smile and made friends everywhere he went. It’s easy to see from those who miss him that his relationships ran long and deep. His greatest joy was his children and he lit up every chance he got to talk about them. Mit is survived by his two children, Casen Makale Burgess of Cedar City and Shacey Danielle Burgess of Rapid City, South Dakota; his father and step-mother, Frank and Brandi Burgess of Redmond; brothers and sisters: Fawn Burgess, Donald and Desiree Burgess, Bonnie and Aaron Sorenson, all of Salina; Ben and Kylie Burgess of Aurora; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, and close friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Burgess; his grandparents, Rodney and Elizabeth Burgess, Donald and Faye Leatherman. Funeral services will be held Monday, October 23, 2017 at 6:00 P.M. in the Salina LDS Stake Center, 98 West 400 North in Salina, where friends may call for viewing Monday afternoon from 4:00 to 5:30 P.M. prior to the services. Burial will be Tuesday, October 24, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. in the Utahn Cemetery in Duchesne, Utah, under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
