Morrill Nielson

April 3, 1925 — March 12, 2006

Elsinore, Utah - On March 12, 2006, our dear Father Morrill Aray Nielson, age 80, returned to his Father in Heaven, after a valiant battle with kidney cancer. Morrill was born April 3, 1925 in Albuquerque, New Mexico, a son of Raymond A. and Hilda Johnson Nielson. Directly after his birth, the family moved to Elsinore, where Morrill was raised and attended grade school and high school. Morrill was drafted into World War II and proudly served his country landing on Ohaha Beach and traveling throughout Europ. After returning home, Morrill married Wilma Dutton, February 7, 1950. At the time of his death, they had been married 56 years. Morrill loved the outdoors and had a real passion for fishing and hunting. He will be remembered for his stories around the campfire and unforgettable fishing trips. Morrill is survived by his wife, Wilma, of Elsinore; children: Steve and Sylvia Nielson of Richfield; Marlene and Calvin Stewart of Central Valley; Collene and Pete Kenneson of Elsinore; Paula and Gregg Chappell of Logandale, NV; Patty Shaw of Orem; 21 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. His son, Bradford Morrill Nielson and his parents, Raymond and Hilda Nielson, preceded him in death. He will be greatly missed by friends and family and we wish him well on his return to his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Graveside services will take place in the Elsinore Cemetery on Wednesday, March 15, 2006 at 12 Noon. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Richfield, Wednesday morning from 10:00 to 11:00 prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #5050 will be in the Elsinore Cemetery under the direction of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
