Morris C. Caldwell

February 6, 1939 — October 31, 2019

Centerfield, UT- Morris Christian Caldwell, age 80, passed away on October 31, 2019 at the Utah Valley Hospital in Provo, Utah. He was born the son of LeRoy and Dorothy Caldwell on February 6, 1939. He was the youngest of 5 children and grew up in “Crowleyville” (Centerfield), UT on the family farm. He graduated from Gunnison Valley High School in 1957, where he was active in basketball, track and field, and baseball. He married his high school sweetheart, Kathryn Jensen, on August 6, 1960 in Gunnison, UT. They were divorced in 1994 and remained the dearest of friends until his death. In 1961, he was drafted in the US Army and served for two years, mostly in Munich, Germany. He returned home in 1963 and continued working on the family farm with his parents. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and loved his time serving on the Centerfield Old Folks Committee for over 20 years, which he often spoke about with fondness. He was a member of the Finance Committee and he volunteered on the church farm and found joy in helping and serving his neighbors. Morris was known for his strong work ethic. One of Morris’ favorite places in the entire world was Willow Creek Canyon. He knew every hidden road and the best places to collect firewood. He had a cattle permit and looked forward to the fall round up when the cattle came off the mountain. After he retired from farming, he moved to Las Vegas and started a landscaping business called Ariba Landscaping. He also helped manage the townhouse complex where he lived. He later moved back to Crowleyville where he built the home he lived in until the time of his death. He was the “self appointed” Mayor of Crowleyville. Morris was known for his wit and sense of humor and loved to tease anyone who could take it. He had nicknames for many people he knew. He is survived by his former wife, Kathryn Caldwell of Centerfield. Sons: Danny (Kris-AKA Cookie) of Pleasant Grove, David (AKA Ledro) of Walnut Creek, CA, Grandchildren: Cooper (AKA Noise), Chanelle (AKA Little Noise), Great Granddaughter: Myah. He was preceded in death by his father, LeRoy Caldwell; his mother, Dorothy Caldwell; sister, Viva Jensen and brothers Wallace Caldwell and Paul Caldwell; sister-in-law, Doris Caldwell; nephews Paul Steck and Douglas Steck. The family would like to thank the staff at both Gunnison Valley and Utah Valley Hospitals. They were caring and professional and did all they could to help Morris be comfortable in his time of need.
