Moyal E. Jacobson

Gunnison, Utah - Moyal Erastus Jacobson, age 83, died July 16, 2005 in Gunnison, Utah. He was born July 3, 1922 in Mayfield, Utah, a son of Loyal Peter Erastus and Lydia Thompson Jacobson. He married Betty Jean Ennis, June 20, 1957 at the Ferrin Reservoir. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple, June 3, 1995. Moyal was a Veteran of World War II, serving in the 751st Military Police Battalion. He was a member of the LDS Church. He was the church house closer and made arrangements for people to clean the church building. Moyal loved to hunt and fish and enjoyed playing spinners with his wife, sister and brother-in-law. He is survived by his wife, Betty, of Gunnison; sister, Elma and Junior Peterson of Gunnison; children: Jean and Scott DeLancey of Grand Junction, CO; John Jacobson of Gunnison; Debra and Jess Bown of St. George; Roberta “Bobbi” Thurgstad, Lawrence Young, Lola Collins and Donna Cannon, all of California; 9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Gerald Jacobson; two brothers and a sister: LaRay Jacobson, Oras Jacobson and Nelda James. Funeral services will be held Friday, July 22, 2005 at 10:00 A.M. in the Gunnison LDS Stake Center, where friends may call for viewing Thursday evening from 7 to 9 P.M. and Friday morning from 9:00 to 9:30 prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the Gunnison American Legion Post #104 will be in the Mayfield Cemetery under the direction of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
