Myrtle C. Shepherd Martin

June 30, 1909 — April 19, 2011

Salina, Utah - Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Myrtle C. Rogers Shepherd Martin, age 101, died April 19, 2011 at her home in Salina. She was born June 30, 1909 in Eunice, Missouri, a daughter of William Thomas and Lydia Jane Elliott Rogers. She graduated from Wasatch High School, Class of 1926. She attended Westminster College and Henegers Business College. Myrt married Theodore R. Shepherd, February 10, 1930 in Salina, Utah. He died February 28, 1987. She later married Allen J. Martin, February 24, 1990 in Salina, Utah. He died June 16, 1996. Myrt was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in the Relief Society and the Young Women’s Program. She enjoyed quilting, cake decorating, oil painting and doing ceramics. She is survived by her daughter: Mary Shaw of Salina; daughter-in-law: Paulette Demham of Tucson, Arizona; grandchildren: Rick Shaw; Sherri Strong; Jim and Ann Shaw; Carolyn and Ray Hardy; Rob and Tammy Shepherd; Bret and Jenny Shepherd; Justus and Jill Keller; 11 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Maude Jones of Salt Lake City. She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; a son, William Thomas Shepherd; a son-in-law: Gail Shaw; and a sister, Mildred Thorsen. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 23, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. in the Salina LDS Stake Center, 98 West 400 North in Salina, where friends may call for viewing Friday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Salina Pioneer Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
