Gunnison, Utah - Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Naomi Watters Pickett, age 82, of Gunnison, Utah, died March 4, 2010 at the Community Care Center in Centerfield, Utah. She brought joy to the lives of her husband, daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was born September 8, 1927, a daughter of Gilbert and Hilda Hansen Watters of Redmond, Utah. She grew up in a loving family with two older sisters. She enjoyed school, singing and especially ice skating as a young woman. She married Mark Vincent Pickett, June 4, 1944 in Centerfield, Utah Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple in July of 1945. Naomi attended Salina High School, Class of 1945 and valued her many friends throughout her life. She was a member of the LDS Church. She enjoyed singing in the ward choir and serving as a Relief Society Teacher. She belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary for many years. She loved to play cards and valued her membership in card clubs. Naomi worked for the Salina Turkey Growers and as a cook at both the Gunnison Elementary School and Gunnison High School. Naomi’s hobbies included cooking(she was famous for her cinnamon rolls and Texas cake), handiwork, reading, traveling, dewing, singing, movies and spending time with her family. She is survived by her sweetheart and husband of 66 years, Mark V. Pickett of Gunnison; her daughters: Vicky Lynn Pickett of Hurricane, Utah; Paula Ann and Lloyd Stevens of Ephraim, Utah; four grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, all of whom brought laughter and joy to her life. “Our Mom will be greatly missed”. She was preceded in death by her loving parents and two sisters, Neva Crane and Dalla Mickelsen, both of Salina, Utah. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, March 10, 2010 at 12 Noon in the Gunnison LDS Stake Center, 80 West Center Street in Gunnison, where friends may call for viewing Wednesday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Gunnison City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
