Nard C. Sorensen

October 31, 1938 — August 29, 2009

Beaver Dam, AZ/Salina, UT - The closing chapter of Nard Charles Sorensen’s life on earth ended Saturday, August 29, 2009 at his home in Beaver Dam, Arizona, due to complication from a long, courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease, surrounded by his loving wife and family. Nard was born October 31, 1938 in Salina, Utah, a son of Max Dean and Hazel Berniece Okerlund Sorensen. He graduated from North Sevier High School and attended college in Cedar City and Logan, Utah. He married Pat Barney November 28, 1959 in Elsinore, Utah. Nard retired from Western/Delta Airlines and resided in Salt Lake City for nearly 40 years. He enjoyed hunting, golfing, camping, cooking; being in the great outdoors, and hanging out with his friends and family. He was a member of the LDS Church. Nard was quick witted, knowledgeable, caring, giving and loving; a true gentleman. He had a great sense of adventure; he was known for his small inventions and he learned something new everyday. He is survived by his wife of Beaver Dam; two daughters: Marlisa and Brent Welch of Beaver Dam; Natalie and German Alanis of West Jordan, Utah; 7 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter; brothers: Bry and Louie Sorensen of Salt Lake City; Dent and Valene Sorensen of Salina; Ted and Linda Sorensen of Moab, Utah; uncle, Clyde Okerlund of Salina. Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 3, 2009 at 12 Noon in the Salina 2nd LDS Ward Chapel, 85 South 100 East in Salina, where friends may call for viewing Thursday morning from 10:00 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Salina Eastside Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
