Nate Sorenson

July 24, 1959 — March 6, 2024

Richfield, Utah - Nathan “Nate” William Sorenson, son of Ned William and Hazel Sorenson, left this life on March 6, 2024 in his home in Richfield, surrounded by his loving wife and family. He was greeted in paradise by his parents, his baby Blinda, his much-loved brother Richard, niece Gayle, Father-in-law Daryl, and many friends.

Nate was born July 24, 1959, in Murray, Utah. He was the youngest of six children. He grew up in Herriman, Utah. He often talked fondly of Herriman and growing up with his cousins and siblings. When he was young he worked at his uncle Lawrence Butterfields pig farm to help out while two of his brothers served missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and two of his other brothers were serving in the Navy.

Nate loved to work and he always worked hard. Throughout his life he worked as a farm hand, a mechanic, an HVAC installer, a coal miner, and a long haul truck driver. He worked for D.P. Curtis for 28 years, first as a driver and then as a proud owner operator. He loved driving. He also loved the friends he trucked with and their many adventures.

Nate married Brenda Lee (Zee) Fleck Hunt, the love of his life, on July 22, 2011 in Richfield. She brought him much happiness and joy. Together they loved to fish, camp, truck together, and laugh a lot.

Nate loved to give. He was always the last in line. He wore worn out clothes and skipped meals, so his family had what they needed. He provided Christmas for families, alongside his wife, Zee, that were not getting one including the parents. He enjoyed helping her with the Breakfast Box Project at Christmas time.

Nate has eight children: Blinda Sorenson, Aaron (Krystal) Sorenson of Hooper, Ned (Brandi) Sorenson of Richfield, Robin Sorenson Goularte of Saratoga Springs, Lacy (Lorin) Luthi of New Braunfels TX, from his first marriage and Tyler (Darci) Hunt of Holiday, Natalia Hunt (Tim) of Richfield, and Stephanie Krein (whom he adopted) of Richfield.

He leaves behind his wife Zee, seven of his children, grandchildren: Nathan D (Marinah), Logan, RaeLee (Jamen), Zaden, Riddick, Madeliene, Braddock, Blinda, Makayla, Seth, Abrham, Alexander (Snow), AnnaJo, Parker, Archer, and his great grandson Ned; to be born in May.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to Zions Way Home Health and Hospice for their tender care and help with Nate during his final weeks. They are truly angels among us!
