Nelda B. Jorgensen

Nelda B. Jorgensen Lewiston/Salina, Utah - Our dear mother and grandmother, Nelda Breinholt Jorgensen, age 91, returned to her Father in Heaven on August 14, 2004 at the home of her daughter in Lewiston, Utah. She was born, October 1, 1912, in Redmond, Utah, a daughter of James Christian and Anne Margaret Frandsen Breinholt. Nelda enjoyed a happy childhood and learned many of life’s important lessons as she grew up in a family with six sisters and one brother. They were Lenore Bench, Macel Anderson, Alida Liddiard, Elva Crane, Viola Blaine and Jed Breinholt, all of whom preceded her in death. Nelda experienced a wide range of happenings in her life. She remembers running several blocks to see one of the first automobiles go by and trading an egg for candy at the mercantile store in Redmond; later she traveled to Hawaii by airplane and cruised to the Caribbean Islands by ship. Nelda met Grant Jorgensen when she was 13 years old. He was her first and only love. They were married on Grant’s birthday, November 3, 1932. Together they raised three worthy and accomplished sons: Jerry Grant and GayLynn Jorgensen of Lewiston, Utah; Bruce Wayne and Donna Jorgensen of Provo; James D. and Ramona Jorgensen of Downer’s Grove, Illinois. Nelda and Grant have 18 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Grant died August 1, 1976. Nelda was skilled in the art of homemaking. She provided a beautiful, organized home for her family.. She also enjoyed gardening. For ten years she excelled at her work in the First Stake Bank of Salina, which later became a branch of Zions Bank. Nelda was a faithful member of the LDS Church and served in all of the auxiliaries. She also served as an officiator in the Manti Temple for two years. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 21, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. in the Salina 2nd and 3rd LDS Ward Chapel, 85 South 100 East in Salina. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home, 150 East Main Street in Salina, Saturday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Salina Pioneer Cemetery under the direction of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
