Nola C. Madsen

June 6, 1926 — September 2, 2022

Aurora, Utah - Our sweet mother, Nola V Christiansen Madsen, age 96, passed from this life to the next on the morning of September 2, 2022. She was born in Monroe, Utah on June 6, 1926, to Carl and Nettie Arlena Bridges Christiansen. She passed away in Monroe while residing at Monroe Canyon Assisted Living.

Mom was the oldest child and only daughter with five younger brothers. She grew up on the family farm in Monkey Town and even though she always felt bad she never had a sister she was extremely proud of her brothers and the wonderful men they became. As a child and the only daughter, she spent a lot of time helping her mother with the household chores.

Mom always liked school and graduated from South Sevier High School in 1944. She then attended an abbreviated teaching program at BYU and at the age of 19 she came to Aurora to start teaching first grade. She boarded with the Mason family and that is where she met our dad, Ivan Bert Madsen, shortly after he returned home from serving in WWII. It was only a few short months later when they married on May 31, 1946. Together they raised 7 children (2 boys and 5 girls).

Mom was an avid reader, liked to crochet, quilt, and hand embroider. Mom was gentle, patient, non-judgmental and always loved unconditionally. Her family was the most important thing to her. Mom was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many callings in all organizations of the church and has a testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel. The last 17 years have been lonely ones since dad passed away in March 2005. She spent a lot of time learning the computer and indexing over 47,000 names.

Mom is survived by six of her seven children, Cathy Cooper (Greg, deceased); Pat Jensen (Clark, deceased); Craig C. Madsen (Barbara, deceased); Susan Williams (Kevin); Darla Tolman (Michael); Carolyn Jennings; daughter-in-law, Barbara Utley Madsen Grundman; 25 grandchildren, 60 great grandchildren and 28 great-great grandchildren; 4 brothers: Lynn (Ila) Christiansen; DeMont (Karen) Christiansen; Neil (Wendy) Christiansen; Carl (Pat) Christiansen; and sister-in-law; Jeannie Christiansen Wilson.

She is preceded in death by her husband Ivan B. Madsen; parents; son, Hal B. Madsen; brother, Odell Christiansen; 2 sons-in-law, 1 daughter-in-law, 2 grandsons, 1 great-grandson.

The family would like to express appreciation to her neighbors, At Home Health Care (Jessica) and Monroe Canyons Assisted Living for their loving care these last few months.
