Nola J. Julander

September 1, 1921 — January 13, 2015

Monroe, Utah - Nola Jensen Peterson Julander, age 93, of Monroe, passed away January 13, 2015 in Provo, Utah. She was born at the family home in Richfield on September 1, 1921, the fifth of seven children born to Loral and Deborah Anderton Jensen. She married Jay Grant Peterson, December 12, 1937. He died August 14, 1945. She met and married Delos Laurell Julander, whom the family and friends call their hero, when he returned home from World War II, on December 28, 1945 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple, March 16, 1963. Nola was married very young and lived in various places, including Fort Ord and Monteray, California; Price, Richfield, Austin and Monroe, Utah. Early in her married life, she lived in Kimberley, Utah, when it was an active mining town. Nola lived a long and happy life and was loved by many. She and Delos celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary this past December. They are well known for their beautiful yard and flowers, especially the hibiscus, and their big vegetable garden, produce of which they shared with family and neighbors. Nola was well known as a talented seamstress and for her beautiful hand-quilted quilts....which also earned her a handful of blue ribbons. Nola and Delos are active member of the LDS faith, serving as teachers and have been greeters at church for the past 10 years - rarely missing a meeting. Nola was loved and will be sorely missed. The family would like to express heartfelt gratitude to friends and neighbors, Bishop LaRell Bagley and the 2nd Ward Members. Nola is survived by her beloved husband, Delos, age 92, of Monroe; children: David L. and Karen Julander of Annabella; Diane Bower of New Jersey; grandsons: Ryan and Shanna Julander of Monroe; Ian Julander of Annabella; great-grandsons, Keagan Julander and Jay Dee Julander, both of Monroe; sister and brother: Carol and Tom Jensen of Richfield; Kenneth and Peggy Jensen of Granite Bay, California. She is preceded in death by her parents; and her siblings: Elvin (Dick) Jensen; Olive J. Pinney; Clista J. Utley; an infant brother; and three in-laws. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 19, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. in the Monroe LDS Stake Center, 140 South Main Street, where friends may call for viewing Monday morning from 9:00 to 10:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Richfield City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
