Nola R. Erickson

July 28, 1928 — February 24, 2013

West Jordan/Koosharem, Utah - Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Nola Ruth Judkins Erickson, age 84, died Sunday, February 24, 2013 in West Jordan, Utah of complications from pneumonia. She was born July 28, 1928 in Provo, Utah, a daughter of Basil Theodore and Florence Drucilla Ferguson Judkins. She married Reuben David Erickson, December 20, 1946 in Richfield, Utah. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Jordan River LDS Temple. Reuben died September 25, 1987. Nola was always and ever thankful for her life. She found beauty in God’s creations, and said that beauty was everywhere if people would just look for it. She always felt that all through her life she was watched over by her Father in Heaven. She was so aware and grateful even for the smallest of daily blessings. Nola was always a good neighbor and friend. She was always visiting her neighbors and doing what she could to help them. She was caring, especially for those who did not have anyone else. She would always give to those who asked her if she had something to give, and she always said that if she did not have anything to give, she would say to herself that if she did have it she would give it. Nola had a stroke in 2005 and was so thankful that she was blessed to have no detrimental effects from the stroke. She also never forgot her blessings and would always recall her many different situations to her children or grandchildren when they needed a good lesson on being thankful. In her later years, she began to have short term memory loss. She developed pneumonia and died suddenly, February 24, 2013, 2 days after being admitted to the hospital. Nola was a great blessing to her entire family and was much loved by each of us. She is survived by her children: Paula and Jim Conway of Park City; Scott D. Erickson of Magna; Kim and Shelly Erickson of West Valley City; 5 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Joy Kemp of St. George and a brother, Ray Judkins of Monterey, California; a brother-in-law: Merrill Erickson of Mesquite, Nevada; sister-in-law: Marjorie Erickson Mott of Loa. She was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Carlson. Grave side services will be held Thursday, February 28, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. in the Koosharem Cemetery. Friends may call for viewing at the Koosharem LDS Ward Chapel, Thursday morning from 11:30 to 12:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Koosharem Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
