Norma Jean Funk

February 28, 1936 — June 28, 2022

Centerfield, Utah - In memory of Norma Jean Sorensen Funk, who passed away June 28, 2022, in Centerfield, written by myself. I was born February 28, 1936, in Centerfield, Utah to Gordon William and Margaret Tassie Sorensen. It was a leap year, and I was born at 11 P.M. so I missed being a leap year baby by one hour. I had 2 sisters and 1 brother. Sisters: Lois Donna (Kurt) Sorensen; Margaret Ann Sorensen (Lloyd) Kofford. Brother: Robert Gordon Sorensen. I married Alvin Odell Funk, who I later divorced. We had one child together, Gordon Kay Funk, who we love so much. I went to Centerfield Elementary School and Gunnison Valley High School. I attended Utah State University and Snow College. My employment has been Pacific Trails, Shaheen’s, Norbest Turkey Plant, Sperry-Univac, and Gunnison Valley Hospital Daycare. I loved the children so much and was thankful for the job. I loved music and was a singer and could play the violin. I lead the music in Primary, Sunday School and Relief Society and the ward choir for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. I enjoyed serving in the church. I dated Donald Follett for 11 years and he passed away in July of 2017. We had many fun times together. I am survived by my son, Gordon Kay (Shawna Lynn Davis) Funk; grandson, Christopher Kay (Emily Beebe) Funk; their children: Sophia and Stella Funk; granddaughter, Melissa Ann Funk (Bret James) Foust; their children: Fallen and Kingston Foust; My sister: Lois Donna Sorensen, and her children: Douglas and Bruce Sorensen; son-in-law: Travis Simper. My sister: Margaret Ann (Lloyd Newell) Kofford; their children: Lora Lee Kofford (Kurt) Oliverson; son-in-law: Dave Adams. I was preceded in death by my brother: Robert Gordon Sorensen; brother-in-law: Kurt Ned Sorensen; nephew: Russell Sorensen, nieces: Stacy Sorensen Simper and Mary Lynn Kofford Adams. I loved my life and living in the Sanpete Valley. The family would like to thank the staff at Mission at Community Living Rehab Center for their compassion and loving care of Norma during her final days. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon on Friday, July 8, 2022, in the Centerfield LDS Chapel, where friends may call for viewing from 10-11:30 AM prior to the services. Burial will be in the Centerfield Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Homes of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
