Norma Palmer Pickett

Redmond, Utah - Norma Trejo Palmer Pickett, age 90 of Safford, AZ and Redmond, UT departed this life on Tuesday, July 16, 2019. Norma was born to Emmanuel Leroy and Rozella Hancock Trejo on May 27, 1929 in Eden, AZ. She grew up working hard on her family farm doing chores like picking cotton, milking cows, and trapping gophers-which she particularly disliked. She was a 1946 graduate of Pima High School, and went on to attend Gila Junior College (EAC) graduating in 1948. Continuing her education in Arizona she received her Bachelors in Elementary Education from Arizona State College (ASU) in 1950. She married Hollis J Palmer in 1952 and had six children: David (Sue) Palmer, Sharlene (Randy) Christensen, Jeanine (Max) Allred, Mary Beth (Victor) Juarez, Kent (Shelley) Palmer, and Bonnie (Todd) Wilkins. Her husband, Hollis, preceded her in death March 4, 1981. Norma worked as an elementary school teacher for 10 years in Solomon, AZ. She made sure to always take her children to church, and remained an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints her entire life. She served in many capacities the bulk of which were spent as a Primary teacher. Norma served an LDS mission to the Arizona Holbrook Mission, which expanded into the Phoenix Arizona Mission during her time of service. She served in the four corners area working with the Native American people. Norma lived most her life all over central Arizona and southern Utah. Later in life she met and married Bronzel Pickett March 11. 2000. Together in Redmond, UT they created a combined his and her family with a total of 11 children and their spouses, 54 grandchildren, 128 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great grandchildren. One of Norma’s greatest treasures in this life was her family. She always enjoyed spending time with her family, and sharing her heartfelt testimony of the truthfulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Bronzel and Norma also enjoyed working together for many years as temple workers in the Manti Temple. Norma is survived by her husband Bronzel Pickett, her 6 children and their spouses, her 5 stepchildren and their spouses: Jerry (EvaMae) Pickett, Sandra (Eugene) Thomas, Preston (Gladys) Pickett, Glen (LeAnn) Pickett, and Karen Peterson. She is also survived by three of her six siblings Emily Arlene (Louis-deceased) Cook, Milton Leroy (Mary Lou) Trejo, and Larry E (Janie) Trejo. Norma is preceded in death and reunited with her parents; a grandson, Brent Palmer; and her three sisters Frances Fay Trejo, Rosalie (Max) Curtis, and Patsy (Kent) Utley. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 27, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. in the Redmond 1st LDS Ward Chapel, where friends may call for viewing Saturday morning from 9:00 to 10:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Redmond Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
