Sigurd, Utah - Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, Norman Franz Budd, Sr. age 78, died December 4, 2009 at his home in Sigurd, after a valiant battle with cancer. He was born November 18, 1931 in Cleveland, Ohio, a son of Joseph Elijah Samuel and Hazel Ford Budd. He served in the US Air Force for twenty-two years as an Independent Service Medic. He graduated from Southern Utah State College in Cedar City, Utah. Norman married Therma Oliphant April 22, 1954 in Phoenix, Arizona. Their marriage was solemnized in the Mesa Arizona LDS Temple in January of 1955. Norman was active in the LDS Church. He served as a Temple Worker at the Manti Temple for five years, at the St. George Temple for five years and he served a mission to Atlanta, Georgia with his wife from 1998 - 2000. He served as a Boy Scout Leader and a volunteer at the Gunnison, Utah Prison, helping inmates with their genealogy. He worked and retired as a Mill Operator at the IFA in Cedar City. Norman was an entrepreneur with new electronic innovations. He made a motor that ran on water and many other inventions. He was a master chess player, enjoyed swimming, and loved building things around the house from scratch. He is survived by his loving wife, Therma, of Sigurd; children: Rosemarie and Jerry Wichael of Redmond; Hazel Thelma and Matthew Patrick of Cedar City; Carolyn Louise and Dorin Lytle of Alamo, Nevada; Priscilla Ann and Robert (Bobby) Doughterty of Las Vegas, Nevada; 19 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild; a sister, Loretta Kreuzer of Garfield Heights, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Norman Franz Budd Jr. and a sister, Nancy Hawkins. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, December 8, 2009 at 12 Noon in the Sigurd LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Richfield, Monday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or at the ward chapel in Sigurd, Tuesday morning from 10:30 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #5050 and the Utah Honor Guard will be in the Sigurd Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
