Torrey, Utah - Our kind and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, Norris Mott Cook, age 83 of Torrey, passed away February 14, 2019 in Payson, Utah. He was born May 8, 1935 in Salina, Utah, a son of Melvin Athus and Nelda Mott Cook. He graduated from Wayne High School, Class of 1953. Norris served his country in the United States Army in Germany from 1958 to 1960. He married the love of his life, Claudia Michele Springer August 26, 1960 in Richfield, Utah. Norris was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Norris and Claudia lived in the Utah County area, raising their family and working for 23 years. He worked at Saratoga Resort and retired from Valley Asphalt in 1993. They then moved back home to Torrey. He worked for State Stone in Torrey for three years. Norris enjoyed hunting, motorcycles, auto mechanics, snow mobiling and riding horses. He will be greatly missed. Norris is survived by his wife of nearly 59 years, Claudia, of Torrey; children: Shane and Kathy Cook of Payson; and Janna Cook of Torrey; 6 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by two grandchildren: Daniel Jay Cook, Baby Taylor; a great-granddaughter: Taizlee Taylor; his parents; and four brothers: Don Cook, Darrell Cook, Kerry Cook, and Larry Joe Cook; and also a foster brother: Vincent Craig. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. in the Torrey LDS Ward Relief Society Room where friends may call for viewing Wednesday morning from 11:00 to 12:30 prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the Harold Brown American Legion Post #92 and the Utah Honor Guard will be in the Torrey Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
