Paul Lee Bartholomew

Gunnison, Utah - Our beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, Paul Lee Bartholomew, age 67, passed away October 10, 2017 at his home in Gunnison, after a short battle with cancer. He was born March 15, 1950 in Gunnison, a son of Paul Lee and Afton Lucile Olson. He graduated from Gunnison Valley High School, Class of 1968 and then attuned a Technician School and graduated as a Mechanic. He married Sherry Lynn Dickinson, October 16, 1969 in Salt Lake City. They were later divorced. He then married Kathleen Peterson Woodruff August 9, 1978 in Elko, Nevada. She died January 2, 2014. Lee was a great husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to many. He loved to hunt and fish. He was always looking for treasure, whether it was prospecting, metal detecting, arrowhead hunting, collecting pine nuts or searching for the sweetest cobs of corn. He was the owner and operator of Lee’s Auto in Gunnison for the last 28 years with his son and grandsons and other adopted sons and grandsons along the way. He was a founding member of the Country Cruisers Car Club which put on various classic car shows for many years. He sponsored and built derby cars for many years. He had a big heart and would help anyone in need. There is not a stray that he wouldn’t take in, man or beast. He fought with everything he had to overcome his battle with cancer. He passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones. His family tree was massive, always adding on through love and friendship as he went through life and if you knew him you know what I mean. He will be truly missed. Lee is survived by his children: Richard and Shelly Lemon of Moab; R. Dennis and Kellie Woodruff of Sandy; Denise and John Prince of Kaysville; C. Don and Cindy Woodruff of West Jordan; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brother and sisters: Kenneth and Valarie Webb of Salt Lake City; Marilyn and Guy McArthur, Susan and Von Lee Childs, Joyce and Maynard Barney, all of Gunnison. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Kathleen; and a son, Joshua William L. Bartholomew. Funeral services will be held Friday, October 13, 2017 at 1:00 P.M. in the Gunnison 5th LDS Ward Chapel in Centerfield, where friends may call for viewing Thursday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or Friday morning from 11:30 to 12:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Gunnison City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
