Paulla Merchant

Salina, Utah- Our loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and neighbor, Paulla Raylene Andreason Merchant passed away March 8, 2023 at her home in Salina at the age of 73.

She was born November 1, 1949, in Gunnison, Utah, a daughter of Ray Durndall and Verna Wyroa Larson Andreason. She and her siblings grew up in Salina, where they learned to love the outdoors. Many of her childhood memories consisted of playing with her brothers, riding horses, and playing in the creek.

Paulla graduated from North Sevier High School and attended Snow College, where she received her Cosmetology License in 1968. She married the love of her life John Edward Merchant September 6, 1968, in Salina. They lived in Richfield for a couple of years, then lived in Granger, Utah for ten years before returning to Salina for the rest of her life. John preceded her in death May 25, 2019.

She is a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and enjoyed being involved in the community, especially through The Salina Riding Club. She had many hobbies and interests, including quilting, sewing, beading, reading, historical reenactments, as well as home construction and baking. She loved going to the lake and attending barrel racing events. She enjoyed visiting her mother, as well as other family members, including her Aunt Darlene and Uncle Chester in Florida. Paulla was determined and could figure out almost anything she put her mind to. She had many talents. But most of all, she loved her family. Her biggest goal was for her loved ones to be happy and healthy. Her kind heart and great smile will be missed by many.

Paulla is survived by her two sons: Cody J. and JoLyne Merchant of Hyrum; Cheyenne and Christy Lyn Merchant of Salina; 7 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; siblings: Charlotte and Duane Follet of Centerfield; Tanya Malmgren of Gunnison; Derek and Dana Andreason of Salina; Desslie and Vickie Andreason of Taylorsville; Darron and Treasa Andreason of Nevada.

She is preceded in death by her husband, John E. Merchant; her parents: Ray and Verna Andreason; sisters Donna Manwill and Saundra Coates.

Memorial service will be held Saturday, March 18, 2023, at 12:00 Noon in the Salina Creek LDS Ward Chapel, 85 South 100 East in Salina.

Burial will take place at a later date in the Utah Veterans Memorial Park Cemetery in Bluffdale under the care of Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
