Salina, Utah - Peter Kent Freitas, 71, of Salina, Utah passed away suddenly on February 16, 2025, in Lehi, Utah. He was born to Vernon Joseph and Klea Earleen Wray Freitas in Red Bluff, California, August 7, 1953. He grew up in Red Bluff and graduated from Corning High School, Class of 1971. He lived a life filled with love, service, and devotion to family and faith.

On June 24, 1977, Pete married the love of his life, Lynette Russon, in the Provo LDS Temple and together they built a beautiful family. He was a devoted husband; father to five children: Kimberly, Nathan, Adam, Jill, and Leslie; and proud grandfather to twelve grandchildren, all of whom brought him immense joy.

Pete had a sharp mind for numbers and earned a degree in accounting from Brigham Young University. He was also an avid baseball player in his younger years, playing for his high school team. He had a love for gardening, reading, and woodworking. He managed Pepsi Cola of Salina for 33 years and worked for Mason Machinery in Aurora for 12 years until his retirement in 2024.

Many knew him fondly as “The Muffin Man,” a title he wore with pride. He was known for his puns, dad jokes, and old Portuguese proverbs. He put in many hours preparing escape rooms and scavenger hunts for his family at reunions.

Pete’s faith was a guiding force in his life. He served faithfully in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in many positions including in his role as Bishop.
