Our kind and beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, Phillip Ernest Globke, age 80, died September 1, 2013 in his home in Richfield, after a brave and valiant battle with lung cancer. He was born December 31, 1932 in Detroit, Michigan, a son of Arthur and Thelma Liebau Globke. He attended Cass Tech Institute and graduated in 1952. He served his country during the Korean Conflict in the United State Army. Phillip married Verna Jane Gift, August 19, 1956 in Hollister, California. He was a member of the Elsinore American Legion Post and the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, where he served as Church President and as a Finance Officer. He enjoyed wood working, reading, craft painting, gardening, and fishing with his grandsons. He is survived by his beloved wife, Verna, of Richfield; children: John and Michele Globke of Escalon, California; Lisa Globke of Lodi, California; Lauri and Rulon Peterson of Monroe; P. Edward Globke of Spring, Texas; 5 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; a brother and sister: Larry and Liz Globke of Monroe, Michigan; Caroline and Sid Lakoff of Zephyr Hills, Florida. He was preceded in death by his parents and his two older brothers. Memorial services will be held Friday, September 6, 2013 at 4:00 P.M. in the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1270 West 1800 South in Richfield, where friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the services. Military honors will be accorded by the Elsinore American Legion Post. At his request, his remains have been cremated and will be scattered in the Ocean in California at a later date.
