Phyllis A. Nielsen

Salina, Utah - Our dear wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Phyllis Afton Campbell Nielsen, age 82, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours of April 24, 2017 at her home in Salina. She was born March 5, 1935 in Bingham Fort, Utah, a daughter of Charles Raymond and Afton Lemmon Campbell. She was married to Don Shephard and divorced; married to Merrill Wilson and divorced; married Robert Nielsen. Phyllis was a talented artist and seamstress. She operated her own business "Phyllis' Fashions for Girls" in Pleasant Grove where she made many of the dresses she sold there. She was also know for her quilts and started a business in Salina. When she became unable to quilt, she donated her fabric to be made into hundreds of quilts which were delivered world-wide. As an avid reader, Phyllis enjoyed learning new things. Phyllis worked many years for the Department of Work Force Services. Phyllis is survived by her husband of Salina; children: Boyd Wilson, Julie Poulson; Ryan and Rosamary Wilson; Jerrilynn Wilson; Merilee Wilson and Lark Wilson; step-children: Kent and Genie Nielsen; Mark and Mary Nielson; Blake and Jill Nielsen; Burke and Angela Nielsen; 7 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren; siblings: Lynn and LeAnn Southam; Les and Nancy Southam; Jeanie and Larry Walker; Kurt and Jeanne Southam. She was preceded in death by her father: Charles Raymond Campbell; her mother: Afton Lemmon Campbell Southam Hickman; siblings: Elizabeth Campbell Nielsen; Norma Campbell Anderson McBride; Stephen Southam; Dean Southam: Hal (Lee) Southam.
