Pluma Harward Dastrup

December 9, 1916 — March 5, 2003

Pluma H. Dastrup Family Matriarch 1916 - 2003 Sigurd, UT/North Las Vegas, NV - Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Pluma Harward Dastrup, age 86, died March 5, 2003 at her home in North Las Vegas, Nevada with her daughter and son-in-law, Nancy Rae and Kent Turner, at her side. She was born December 9, 1916 in Aurora, Utah, a daughter of Thomas Franklin and Sarah Jenette Harding Harward. She grew up in Aurora and married Ray Okerlund Dastrup, September 26, 1939 in the Manti LDS Temple. They lived their entire married life in Sigurd. Because of health issues, they moved to North Las Vegas, Nevada in 1997 to be closer to their family. Ray died December 26, 1999. Pluma worked side by side with her husband, Ray, on their cattle ranch and dairy farm in Sigurd. She was an active member of the LDS Church. She is survived by her children: Drs. Brent H. and Karen Dastrup, Redondo Beach, CA; Nancy Rae and Kent Turner, North Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren: Brent Ray Dastrup and David Milton Dastrup,both Redondo Beach, CA; James Caston and Maryann Dastrup,Simi Valley,CA; Hans Joseph and Tara Dastrup, White Plains, NY; Jared Thomas Dastrup, Redondo Beach, CA; Brett Kent and Amy Turner, Cape Coral, FL; and Stacy Rae Turner, North Las Vegas, NV; great-grandchildren: Caston James Dastrup, Luke McKay Turner, Kelly Chandler Turner and Noah Gordon Dastrup; brother: Vermont and Melva Harward, Provo. She was preceded in death by five brothers and five sisters: Ritch Harward, Royal T. Harward, Frank Harward, Clyde Harward, Kendrick H. Harward, Drucilla H. Ivie, Vera H. Curfew, Beth H. Bacon, Opal H. Nielsen and Katie H. Axtell. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 8, 2003 at 3:00 P.M. in the Sigurd LDS Ward Chapel, where friends may call for viewing Saturday afternoon from 1:00 to 2:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Sigurd Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
