Salina, Utah - Randal Chris Johnson, age 85, passed away January 13, 2018 in Centerfield. He was born January 21, 1932 in Fountain Green, a son of Orville Glen and Hazel Lucile Daniels Johnson. He married Lela Williams in the summer of 1956 in Las Vegas, Nevada. They had 4 boys and were later divorced. He later married Kay Lou Wheeler and they were divorced. Randal served his country in the US Air Force. He was an avid hunter in his earlier years. One of his trophies included a 68 inch bull elk he had hanging in his living room along with a 42 inch buck he won 13th place in the state for and received a fishing pole for his prize. Randal owned Johnson Towing but also owned many businesses throughout his lifetime including Whiting Brothers in Centerfield, Beeline Husky in Gunnison, The Cowboy Cafe in Gunnison, The Gunnison Hotel, and Kay Lou Chevrolet in Salina. He worked for Vearl Peterson Chevrolet for several years and won many awards for being Top Salesman of the Year for all of 70's and Salesman of the Year for the Western United States at that time also. Randal had a hand in starting the Salina Interchange back in the day before there were any businesses there at all. Randal's greatest joys were a good home cooked meal, convertible cars, visiting with his many friends, playing liars poker, driving around in his Cadillac with Carol and her little dog, visiting his family members in their driveways. He always had a dollar for the grandkids kisses when he came by and told them "Don't be taking any wooden nickels". Randal will be deeply missed by all of us. He is survived by his sons: Michael and Candi Johnson, Robin Johnson, Kevin Johnson, Mark and Alesha Johnson, all of Salina; step-sons: Garyy and Glenda Lund of Salina; Phillip Workman of Gunnison; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; step-sons: Garry and Glenda Lund of Salina and Phillip Workman of Gunnison; brother and sisters: David Johnson of Elmo; Lily Barney and Shanna Cox, both of Alma, Washington. He was preceded in death by his parents; his ex-wife, Lela Workman; four brothers: Dexter Johnson, Marvin Johnson, Glen Johnson and Weldon Johnson; two nephews and a niece: Gary Johnson, David Winget and Lynette McIntosh; and a grandson, Jared Lund.
