Ranee Taylor Baker

Salina, Utah - Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Anna Ranee Taylor Baker, age 80, passed away March 17, 2009, at the home of her daughter in Eden, Idaho. She was born April 19, 1928 in Fairview, Utah, a daughter of Joseph Onzel and Annie Laurie Crossley Taylor. In her early years, Ranee lived in Mt. Pleasant, Spring Lake, Payson and finally ended up in Teasdale, Utah, where she met her sweetheart. Ranee married Henry Heaps Baker, December 3, 1945 in Salina, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple, March 21, 1964. Ranee and Heaps lived in the Teasdale for two years and then moved to Salina. Ranee, while raising a family, worked as a seamstress, cook and flower gardener. She was a self-taught painter, and painted many pictures, portraits and sceneries. She was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in all the auxiliaries. In her last years before retirement, she was the cook at the famous Mom’s Café and also for the Senior Citizens in Salina. She was a very good gardener and had a green thumb that could make anything grow. She prided herself in knowing she had one of the prettiest yards in town. Ranee is survived by her children: Diann McNeil and Jim Choate of Eden, Idaho; Shyrel Baker of Salina; Susan and LeeWayne Elmer of Payson; Ralph and Kellie Baker of Cedar City; Philip and Ann Baker of Nephi; 20 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren with two on the way; 7 step-grandchildren; 11 step-great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Bryant and Charlotte Taylor of Topeka, Kansas; Julie and Barton Kilgore of Longview, Washington; Evelyn and Woody Harrelson of St. George; Vaughn and Debbie Taylor of Salem, Oregon; James and Tiffany Taylor, Sondra and Clay Liston, all of Orem. Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 26, 2009 at 12 Noon in the Salina LDS Stake Center, 98 West 400 North in Salina. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Salina, Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 P.M. or at the Stake Center Thursday morning from10:00 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Salina Pioneer Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah. In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be made to Zion’s Bank in care of Ranee Baker. The funds will be donated to the Salina Senior Citizens Center.
