Aurora, Utah - Raymond Henry Heagle, age 82, passed away peacefully at his home in Aurora, October 28, 2008. He was born the 31st of March, 1926, in Ogdensburg, St. Lawrence, New York, to Ernest Elgin and Amanda Cardinal Heagle. He married Mary Elizabeth Drummond, the 17th of August, 1946 in Syracuse, Onondaga, New York. Their marriage was later sealed in the Los Angeles LDS Temple on the 15th of July, 1967. Ray grew up and attended schools in Ontario and Montreal, Canada. He was a cadet in the Canadian National Air Force during the 1940s. Ray worked in several professions over the years, with an emphasis in accounting. At one point he was the manager of several theaters and relocated to Southern California. He then worked many years with Taft Electrical Contractors in Ventura, California as the Comptroller and was CEO of Century Constructors in Mammoth Lakes, California. Ray has been an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints since joining the church in Ventura. He has served in many positions over the years, culminating as a Bishop, until his retirement in 1984 and relocation to Aurora, Utah. Ray and Mary also served many years in the Manti Temple as Ordinance Workers. Ray has served in Civic areas both in California and Utah. Traveling together has been a favorite pastime of Ray and Mary. They have had the opportunity to see much of the world, touring throughout every state in the United States, into much of Canada, Australia, Fiji, New Zealand, Great Britain and Europe. Family has always been important to Ray. He knew the value of family life and enjoyed many hours playing with grandchildren and great-grandchildren and celebrating their successes. He is blessed to have 14 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren, with number 19 due in December. Another passion was that of flying. This passion began when he was a cadet in the Canadian National Air Force and continued throughout his life. He obtained his pilot’s license while living in California and enjoyed the hours he spent flying. He and Mary also enjoyed many, many hours in the out-of-doors whether it was camping in their trailer or the back of their van.
