Raymond Furnal

Monroe, Utah - Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, Raymond Furnal, age 88, died March 24, 2012 in Richfield, Utah. He was born June 25, 1923 in Des Moine, Iowa, a son of Elmer Ray and Myrtle Millie Cummings Furnal. He married Aileen Marie Shepherd November 30, 1985 in Spring Valley, California. Ray was a Professional Race Car Driver in the 50's and 60's in California. He loved antique cars and enjoyed taking Route 66 thru Arizona. He owned and operated a Tire and Mechanic Shop in Escondido, California for twenty years. Ray moved to Mayfield, Utah in 1983 from California and then he and Aileen moved to Monroe in 1985. He ran a Motel and Café in Marysvale, Utah for a number of years. Ray enjoyed fishing and camping. He and Aileen drove their motor home all over the USA, seeing the sites and enjoying the country. They also went on several cruises. Ray is survived by his wife of Monroe; a daughter, Susan Furnal of California; step-children: Bonnie Jean Hafdell of Jacumba, California; Barbara Lee and Dennis Robert Schnuphase of Monroe; Torri Farrell of Alpine, California; Susan Marie Sanchez of Spring Valley, California; grandchildren: Duane Hafdell, Elizabeth Murphy, Robert Sanchez, Christina Farrell and Tawny Farrell; 6 great-grandchildren; two sisters: Betty Stodden of Paradise, California; Joan and Jim Amidon of Vancouver, Washington. He was preceded in death by two sons: Allan Raymond Furnal and William Alfred Farrell, and one sister Mildred White. At his request, his remains have been cremated. Memorial services will be held Thursday, April 5, 2012 at 2::00 P.M. in the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Richfield, where friends may visit with the family one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Richfield City Cemetery at a later date under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
