R.G. Torgerson

May 26, 1937 — January 3, 2014

Koosharem, Utah - Our loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother, R.G. Torgerson, age 76, of Koosharem, passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on Friday, January 3, 2014 in Provo, Utah. He was born May 26, 1937 in Koosharem, a son of William Leonard and Audrey Hicks Torgerson. He married Narda Rose Chappell, November 26, 1959 in Lyman, Utah. Their marriage was solemnized in the Manti LDS Temple, December 22, 1963. R.G. worked at Georgia Pacific in Sigurd for 42 years. He loved the guys at the GP Plant and tried to keep in touch with them and had a great camaraderie. He was an active member of the LDS Church, serving as a faithful Home Teacher, in the High Priest Group Leadership and worked in the Young Men's Program. He served on the Koosharem Town Board. R.G. enjoyed hunting, fishing, fishing, fishing, yard sales, traveling and fishing. He was a hard worker. He loved nature and fishing. R.G. was a friend to everyone. He never met a stranger. He was a big JAZZ fan and he loved the NBA. He is survived by his loving wife, Narda Rose, of Koosharem; children: Martha and Ivan Hendrickson of St. George; Marlene and Jay Hatch of Koosharem; Ronald G. and Jana Torgerson of Richfield; Norene and Larren LeFevre of Delta; Jason Farrell and Jayleen Torgerson of Blanding; Bryan William and JoLynn Torgerson of Moab; 22 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brothers and sister: Junior Torgerson of Richfield; Mavis and Glenn Wade of Magna; Jay G. and Diana Torgerson of Denham Springs, Louisiana. He was preceded in death by his parent; a grandson, Michael LeFevre; and granddaughter, Tori Torgerson; a great-grandson, Jackson Miller; three sisters and one brother: Georgia Jolley, Varda Nelson, Vespa Hatch and Bud Torgerson. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 11, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. in the Koosharem LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Richfield, Friday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or at the ward chapel in Koosharem, Saturday morning from 9:00 to 10:30 prior to the services. Burial will be in the Koosharem Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
