Richard Leroy Muir

March 19, 1924 — June 7, 2010

Sigurd, Utah - Our beloved Father, Grandfather and Friend, Richard LeRoy Muir, age 86, died June 7, 2010 at his home in Sigurd of lung cancer. He was born March 19, 1924 in Beaver, Utah, a son of William John and Mary Ellen Bradshaw Muir. He attended schools in Beaver. He married Betty Hoye, May 18, 1943 in Beaver. They were later divorced. He married Betty Ann Forrest, November 1, 1965 in Las Vegas, Nevada. She died August 6, 2007. Richard was a Veteran of World War II, serving his country in the United States Army. He worked in Las Vegas for many years and then moved to Sigurd where he worked at Georgia Pacific. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping with his family, mountain exploring for treasures and all types of metals. He enjoyed hunting for gold and metal detecting. He especially liked to go to Mesquite, to hit it big!!! He loved playing bingo. He is survived by his three daughters: Adrianne Zimmer and Alan Thompson; Debora and Kreig Bertelson, all of Richfield; Lisa Muir and Ty Draper of Lyman; Patty Muir of California; 14 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and his mother-in-law: Adrianne Daley of Centerfield. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, William Richard Muir; a grandson, William Lee Thompson; five brothers and four sisters: John Irving Muir, Lloyd Therus Muir, Rhoda Elizabeth Johnson, Raymond William Muir, Nina Ellen Muir, Mary Anola Muir, Ernest Albert Muir, Kate Louise Bezanson and Paul Angus Muir. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, June 12, 2010 at 12 Noon in the Sigurd LDS Ward Chapel, where friends may call for viewing Saturday morning from 10:00 to 11:30 prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the VFW Beaver Post #3989 will be Saturday afternoon at 4:00P.M. in the Mountain View Cemetery in Beaver, Utah, under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
