Annabella, Utah - Richard White Chidester, age 72, of Annabella, Utah, died September 27, 2007 in Roosevelt, Utah. He was born September 21, 1935 in Bicknell, Utah, a son of Clyde Dastrup and Hannah White Chidester. He graduated from Wayne High School in Bicknell, Class of 1953. He attended Snow College for one year and joined the US Army and served during the Korean War. After the war he attended a Technical College in Provo. Richard married Rita Fay Childs in November of 1956 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They were later divorced. He married Karma Calloway and they were also divorced. Richard was an active member of the LDS Church and was a Truck Driver by trade. Richard spent many years behind the wheel of a truck and drove nearly 4 million miles. One of Richard’s first loves was camping, hunting and fishing. During the deer hunt you always knew where to find his camp, at the Aquarius Ranger Station on Boulder Mountain. He played baseball in high school and enjoyed all sports. For a short time, two of his grandsons lived with him as teenagers and he never missed attending their sporting events. Richard was an avid Jazz fan . . . GO JAZZ!!! Richard was loved by his family members and his many friends. He is survived by his children: Gregory Clyde Clark of Salt Lake City; Christine and Scott Littlejohn of Monroe; Paula Chidester of Salt Lake City; Joe and Janice Chidester of Las Vegas, NV; 19 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sisters and brother: Dorotha and Darryl Taylor of Roosevelt; Lora and Larry Rees of Richfield; Phillip Clyde Chidester of Annabella. Richard had many nephews and nieces that were very close to him and there was much loved shared between them. He was preceded in death by a son, Tony Lee Chidester; his parents, Clyde and Hannah Chidester and a great-grandson, Damon Cook. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, October 3, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. in the Annabella 2nd LDS Ward Chapel. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home, 260 North 400 West in Richfield, Tuesday evening from 6 to 8 P.M. or at the ward chapel in Annabella, Wednesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 prior to the services. Burial with military honors accorded by the Harold Brown American Legion Post #92 will be Wednesday afternoon at 3:00 P.M. in the Bicknell Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield, Salina and Gunnison, Utah.
