Rick Nickelby

October 26, 1954 — December 5, 2020

Richfield, Utah – Richard Gene Nickelby was born October 26, 1954 in Wallace, Idaho, a son of Harold and Frances Haynie Nickelby. He passed away December 5, 2020 in Centerfield, Utah. Rick moved to Richfield in 1989 with the Group Home for the Handicapped. He worked at the Turkey Plant in Salina, at Albertsons, Fresh Market and Lynn’s Grocery Store in Richfield and at the show house in Richfield. You may have seen Rick sweeping the sidewalks or washing the windows for the businesses on Main Street in Richfield. Although Rick couldn’t talk, he could communicate and he loved visiting with people. He was a very social person. His hobbies were his friends and going shopping. Rick loved to go see the police officers in Richfield. He loved to see the Manti Temple. He loved the American Flag, Valentine’s Day, rings and watches, his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and going to church. Rick handed out the programs for Sacrament Meeting for the past 10 years. He loved going to church and seeing all of his friends. Rick will be greatly missed in our town. He is survived by his caregiver, Marva Nelson of Richfield; siblings: Jeffrey J. Nickelby, Monte H. Nickelby and Bunita N. Stockhoff. He is preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Frances Nickelby; and his beloved caregiver, Barbara Aaron. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at 12 Noon in the Richfield City Cemetery. Friends may call for viewing at the Springer Turner Funeral Home in Richfield, Wednesday evening from 5 to 7 P.M. Because of COVID-19 Restrictions and Mandate, all attendee must wear a mask and obey social distancing. Burial will be in the Richfield City Cemetery under the care of the Springer Turner Funeral Home of Richfield and Salina, Utah.
